Backlink profile

Also called: Link profile

Your backlink profile is the full set of links pointing to your site, including who links, where, with which anchors and how that mix looks.

A backlink profile is the whole collection of links pointing to your site. It includes the linking domains, the pages they link to, the anchor text used, whether links are dofollow or nofollow, and how those links built up over time.

A healthy profile tends to look natural. It has a spread of referring domains, a mix of anchor types with plenty of branded ones, links to several pages rather than only the homepage, and growth that doesn't spike overnight for no reason. Odd patterns, such as hundreds of exact-match anchors from unrelated sites, can attract attention.

Practical point: review your profile at least twice a year with a backlink tool and Google Search Console. Look for dead links, lost links and anything clearly spammy. Compare against two or three competitors to see what a normal profile looks like in your market. Remember that tool numbers are estimates.
