Broken link building

Broken link building means finding dead links on other sites and offering your own page as a working replacement.

Broken link building starts with finding pages on other sites that link to something that no longer exists. You then contact the site owner, tell them about the dead link, and suggest your own relevant page as a replacement. It helps them fix a problem and gives you a link.

It works only when your page is a good fit. If the dead resource was a guide to email deliverability, your replacement should cover the same ground well. Sending a loosely related page tends to be ignored. The process is also slow, since you need to find link targets by hand or with a tool.

Practical point: keep your message short and helpful. Give the URL of the page with the dead link, say which link is broken, and offer your page as a possible fix. Don't pressure. Also check your own site for broken links, since the same problem can cost you links you've already earned.

Links you can check.

Every link we place comes with a receipt. The free link plan shows the pages worth pushing and what the links would cost.
