Skyscraper technique

The skyscraper technique means finding a popular page with many links, making a better version, then asking linkers to look at yours.

The skyscraper technique was popularized by Brian Dean of Backlinko. You find content in your niche that has attracted many links, create something more complete or up to date, and then contact the sites that linked to the original to suggest yours.

It became so widely used that response rates fell. Editors received many near identical emails. It still works in a narrower form, when your version has something clearly new, such as fresh data, better visuals or an updated method. Simply making a longer article isn't a good reason for anyone to switch.

Practical point: before you start, ask what would make your page the one a person would rather cite. If you can't answer that, pick a different topic. Keep outreach targeted to a small number of relevant sites, and tell them exactly what is new and why it helps their readers.

Links you can check.

Every link we place comes with a receipt. The free link plan shows the pages worth pushing and what the links would cost.
