Click-through rate
Also called: CTR
Click-through rate is the share of people who saw your result in search and clicked it. Google Search Console reports it for each query and page.
Click-through rate, or CTR, is clicks divided by impressions. If your page appeared 1,000 times in results and got 50 clicks, the CTR is 5 percent. Google Search Console reports it for queries and pages.
CTR depends heavily on position, the type of query and what else is on the page. Branded queries usually get a much higher CTR than generic ones, and results pushed down by ads or AI summaries get fewer clicks. Because of this, comparing to a general benchmark isn't very useful.
Practical point: compare CTR against your own pages at similar positions. A page with high impressions and low CTR may need a clearer title or description. Test changes one at a time and give them a few weeks. Remember that a higher CTR only matters if the visitors are the right ones.
