SERP

Also called: Search engine results page

A SERP is the page a search engine shows after a query. It can include ads, AI summaries, snippets, maps and ordinary blue links.

SERP stands for search engine results page. It's what you see after you type a query. Today it's rarely just ten blue links. A results page can include ads, an AI summary, a featured snippet, local maps, videos, images, and a People Also Ask box.

This matters because a number one ranking doesn't mean what it used to. Ads and features can push the first organic result well down the screen, and some queries are answered without a click. Results also vary by location, device and search history, so rankings are never one fixed number.

Practical point: look at the actual SERP for the terms you care about, in an incognito window or with a rank tracking tool. Note which features appear and who owns them. Judge success by clicks and conversions from Google Search Console and analytics, not by a single position figure.
