AI Overviews
Also called: Google AI summaries
AI Overviews are Google's generated summaries at the top of some results, with links to the web pages the summary draws on.
AI Overviews are answers written by Google's AI that appear above the usual results for some queries. They summarize information and show links to sources. Google rolled them out widely from 2024, and where and how often they appear keeps changing.
They change how people use search. Some get an answer without clicking. Others click through from the cited links. Google says it shows them where they're most helpful, and publishers report mixed effects on traffic. It isn't settled how much visibility cited sources gain or lose.
Practical point: the basics still apply. Pages that are indexed, clearly written, accurate and from credible sites are what the system can draw on. Google says no special markup is needed. Check Search Console performance for queries where an overview appears, and note whether your clicks and impressions change.
Links you can check.
Every link we place comes with a receipt. The free link plan shows the pages worth pushing and what the links would cost.
