Core Web Vitals
Core Web Vitals are Google's measures of loading speed, responsiveness and visual stability, based on how real visitors experience your pages.
Core Web Vitals are three measurements Google uses to describe page experience. Largest Contentful Paint covers how quickly the main content loads. Interaction to Next Paint covers how fast the page responds when someone taps or clicks. Cumulative Layout Shift covers how much things jump around while loading.
They're part of Google's page experience signals, but Google has said they're one factor among many, and great content can rank well with imperfect scores. They matter mostly because slow, jumpy pages frustrate people, which hurts conversions regardless of rankings.
Practical point: check the Core Web Vitals report in Google Search Console and PageSpeed Insights, which show real user data where enough exists. Fix the biggest causes first, usually oversized images, heavy scripts and missing image dimensions. Test on a mid range phone, not just a fast office laptop.
