Orphan page

An orphan page has no internal links pointing to it, so visitors and crawlers can't easily reach it through your site.

An orphan page exists on your site but isn't linked from any other page. You might reach it only through a direct URL or a sitemap. They often appear after redesigns, old campaigns, or when content is published and never added to a menu or related list.

Search engines may still find them through a sitemap or an external link, but with no internal links they get little importance and may be crawled rarely. Visitors can't find them either, so the page wastes the work that went into it.

Practical point: compare your sitemap or content list with a crawl of the site. Pages that show up in one and not the other are likely orphans. Decide for each one whether to link it from relevant pages, merge it into another page, or remove it. Check for orphans after each large content update.
